Juror of the Film Competition 2019. Mountaineering virtuoso, Silvo Karo from Slovenia began his mountain journey four decades ago, in 1977. During his illustrious sporting career, he has managed to actively co-shape modern alpinism. He completed numerous successful expeditions to Patagonia and the Himalayas, climbed many routes and did numerous first ascents. As the founding father and director of the Festival Gorniškega Filma, he upgraded his rich mountaineering path with culture. Silvo is a honorary member of the British Alpine Club and his contribution to global and Slovenian mountaineering is highly appreciated in his homeland as well. He’s also a photographer, filmmaker and writer. In 2018, his autobiographical book ‘Alpinist’ came out.
