
Wojciech Szatkowski
Ski mountaineer for more than 35 years, a 3rd class mountaineering guide, employee of the Tatra Museum in Zakopane, historian, organizer of competitions like Joseph Oppenheim Memoriał and the KW Zakopane (Mountaineering Association in Zakopane) Ski Mountaineering Competition, as well as trail running. In the High Tatras he has done over 500 different runs, but his favourite places are the Bieszczady Mountains and the vicinity of Cisna village. Author of ski touring guidebooks for the Tatra Mountains:” Tatry- A Ski touring Guidebook” ( Góry, 2010), “Ski-touring in the Polish Tatras” ( PTTK, 2011) and “The Tatra mountains on Skis” ( TPN, 2015), as well as books about the history of skiing, such as: “Stanisław Marusarz, A King of Skis” ( MT, 1999), “From Marusarz to Małysz” ( Fall, 2004) and “Magic of Ski” (with Beata Słama, TPN, 2016). The originator of the project “Polskie góry na nartach”/”Sking in Polish mountains”. He publishes his articles about mountains, history of tourism, skiing and mountaineering in the following magazines: “Góry”, “Tatry”, “Zakosie”, “Ski Magazyn”, “Gazeta Górska” and on the websites: www.watra.pl, www.nieznanetatry.pl and a few others.
