Karolina Oska
Born in 1992. Comes from Silesia, but for a couple of years has lived in Krakow where she moved to be closer to the rocks. She studied Environmental Engineering at the University of Science and Technology (AGH). Apart from climbing, she is fascinated by coding in the Ruby language. In the near future she plans to work remotely and combine programming with climbing anywhere in the world.
First, there was sport climbing-she raised her level year by year. At some point she concluded that rocks were not enough and that’s how her mountain adventures began-multi-pitch routes- longer and requiring bigger and better preparation. What she loves most in climbing is its diversity and uniqueness of the places that you can visit. She tries to combine sport climbing in rocks with multi-pitch climbing in the mountains and on large walls. In 2017, together with Michał Czech she free climbed Freerider on El Capitan. She has done first female ascents in the Tatras, above all, the Pillar of Kazalnica. She loves crack climbing, hacky sack and sleeping in a portaledge. In the rocks she climbs routes up to 8c RP.
Publishes texts about climbing on 8academy.pl. Ambassador of the Climbing Environment Initiative “Nasze Skały” (Our Rocks). She is involved in Krakow Academic Mountaineering Section SAKWA. In 2017 at “Kolosy” she received a Honorable Mention in the category of mountaineering for bigwall climbs in Yosemite Valley.
