Lukasz Supergan

Some call him a traveller although he does not introduce himself in that way. He prefers to say that he is a man who fulfils his dreams, not caring if this fits any definition. His passion are long-distance expeditions during which he covers hundreds or thousands of kilometres, usually alone.

He often travels, looking for answers to the most important questions. Travelling is an attempt to understand the world, know it up close, without haste and superficiality, confronting the mind with the “other”. Hiking in the mountains is searching for answers about himself and an attempt to grasp the intangible.

His adventure with mountains began more than 25 years ago. The moment which he until today considers breakthrough was a lonely trip along the Carpathian Arch in 2004 – the first in history lonely crossing of this mountain range. Since then he has walked 20 000 km through difficult to access mountain areas of Europe and Asia. As his most important ventures he regards the double crossing of the Carpathian Arch, traversing Iceland from East to West and crossing the Zagros Mountains in Iran . He hiked in the Himalayas, Karakoram, Tien Shan and Pamir,  went along the Israel National Trail and across the Pyrenees. In travels he appreciates not only a challenge, but most of all understanding they bring. These expeditions have been awarded twice in the category “Feat of the Year” at Kolosy in Gdynia, they have also received two nominations for National Geographic Traveler Award. Two of them became the subject of books.
