She comes from the family of Marques de Pidal, who, together with “el Cainejo”, made the first ascent of the famous Naranjo de Bulnes in Picos de Europa, Spain. Aitana’s path to a career in climbing was quite unusual — she never trained in a climbing gym, but specialized in friction climbing on granite slabs. She mostly climbs in La Pedriza region near Madrid, where she has already been the first one to send a route graded 8b, being one of just three women. She has also climbed another 8a+ and a lot of routes graded 8a. She climbes in limestone too (8a), preferably in Morocco, the Dolomites, Pyrenees and in Picos de Europa. Aitana is one of the protagonists of the film „Chasing Balance” that participates in the Film Competition.
