
Catherine Destivelle
Born in 1960. French alpinist. She started climbing at the age of 14, and 2 years later she already climbed hard routes in the Alps. In 1986-1989 she won many climbing competitions and in 1988 made the hardest ascent done by woman of a rock route (Choucas 8a+). In 1990s she made many big solo ascents in the Alps (new route on the Dru and trilogy of the north faces of the Alps: Eiger, Matterhorn and Grandes Jorasses, all in winter). She climbed also in the Greater Ranges (Nameless Tower, Shisha Pangma). Now, she runs publishing house Les Éditions du Mont Blanc.
