Polar explorer, traveller, philosopher. The first person in the world to walk to both the North Pole and the South Pole in one year and without external support: on 23 May 1995, together with Wojciech Moskal, he reached the North Pole, and on 27 December 1995 -the South Pole, alone. He has participated in expeditions to various parts of the world, including the Gibson Desert, Kilimanjaro and the Atlantic. He is also famous for his expedition to the Poles with a disabled boy, Jaś Mela. He has written ten books.
