Alex Honnold
Alex Honnold (born August 17, 1985) is an American climber of Polish descent, best known for many rope-less ascents of big walls, so-called free solo climbing, the protagonist of many Reel Rock films.
Winner of the 2014 Piolet d’Or for seven-summit traverse of the Fitz Roy massif together with Tommy Caldwell.
His latest and the most famous achievement is a free-solo ascent of Freerider on El Capitan. He climbed 3300ft, 33 pitches (VI, 5.12d) in less than 4 hours!
In 2012 he established his Foundation which “seeks simple, sustainable ways to improve lives world-wide. ”
