Marcin Tomaszewski

Marcin (born in 1975) has climbed for over 22 years. He is best known for his multipitch ascents both in the big wall and alpine style. From the very beginning he has been inspired mainly by challenges such as setting new routes on the most inaccessible and vertical walls of the world, like Last Scream of the Butterfly in 2003 (VI 5.10 + A4, 80 ° ice, 1200 m – nominated for Piolet d’Oro -Golden ice Axe) or last year’s Bushido (A4, VII + VII Big Wall) on Great Trango Tower.
For him climbing means not only mountains, but also promoting climbing through running rock climbing courses and indoor training units, organizing competitions and climbing shows, hosting radio shows. Since 1997 he has periodically organized The Fight Club National Climbing Competition which he is the originator of. In 2005 Marcin became a climbing instructor and opened his own climbing school in Szczecin.
In 2009 he began the implementation of the 4 Elements Project (www.4zywioly.net) aimed at climbing ascents in four distinctive mountainous regions (Patagonia, Alaska, Baffin Island, Venezuela).
In February 2015 Marcin Tomaszewski and Marek Raganowicz finished their 18- days climbing on the north 1100-meter face of Trollveggen in Norway-the route they set runs through the main cliff and constitutes an independent line- called by the team “Katharsis”. Marcin will talk about this route during this year’s presentation.
