born in 1974 (alias „Mára”). A Czech mountaineer, author of mountain books and movies, motivational speaker. Has a long list of outstanding ascents on five continents. In 2015 he was nominated for the Piolet d’Or for opening in an alpine style a new route- Thumba Party, 2100 m, M6, WI6 on a Nepalese seven-thousander Talung. His climbs have eight times received the title of the Ascent of the Year (Výstup Roku) awarded by the Czech Mountaineering Association.  In the Karakoram range he participated in opening new routes in the alpine style on Amin Brakk (1999) and Kapura Peak (2008). In the Himalayas of Nepal, in addition to the above-mentioned climb on Talung, he opened a new difficult route in an alpine style on a high six- thousander Kyashar (2005). His greatest achievement in the Garhwal Himalayas is an outstanding line Filkův nebeský smích 2000 m, 7a, M5, 80 ° on the Meru Central, opened in an alpine style in 2006. He is the author of new routes in Antarctica, Patagonia and Kyrgyzstan. In 2017, in a team with Zdenek Hák, he made an alpine- style ascent of the southwest wall of Gasherbrum I, opening the route Satisfaction! For this climb the Czech mountaineers were honoured with the Piolet d’Or which they will receive during the Festival in Lądek Zdrój. “Mara” is not slowing down, however, in January this year he already opened a new route in Antarctica, and in May-a new line in alpine-style on Kyazo Ri in Nepal. He will come to Lądek almost straight from the expedition to Nanga Parbat.
