Robert Szymczak
A physician, Emergency Medicine specialist, PhD in the field of High Altitude Medicine. Professor of Emergency Medicine (Department of Emergency Medicine- Medical University of Gdansk), and High Altitude and Expedition Medicine (Postgraduate Medical Training Center of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow). Air- rescue physician.
He took part as a climbing physician in expeditions to high mountains (Mont Blanc, Elbrus, Lenin Peak, Khan Tengri, Passu Sar, Island Peak, Lobuche East, Nanga Parbat, Dhaulagiri, Broad Peak, Mount Everest). Participated as a climbing doctor in three Polish national winter expeditions: Nanga Parbat (2006-2007) and Broad Peak- twice (2008-2009 and 2010/2011). He has climbed 3 eight-thousanders Dhaulagiri (2008), Nanga Parbat (2010) and Mount Everest (2012). In 2008, for participating in an international rescue operation for the Spanish Himalayan mountaineer Inaki Ochoa de Olza on Annapurna , Szymczak was awarded the Gold Medal of Sports Merit- Medalla al Merito Deportivo.
He runs medical training for the Polish Mountaineering team. Provided medical coverage during numerous Polish expeditions, including the ones within the framework of the Polish Winter Himalaism (Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, Lhotse, Makalu, Broad Peak Middle, K2). A physician in the Forma na Szczyt Project.
